We try to avoid overruns by providing a detailed functional specification in
advance of coding. This spec is mutually agreed upon by us and our clients.
Assuming that the scope of the project does not change, we can provide a fixed
cost bid to develop the features that are agreed on once a specification is
complete. Thus, we avoid cost overruns by understanding what we are building up
front and sticking to the plan. If, during development, the customer raises
additional requirements, we revise our spec and provide updated estimates for
the new features. Again, once these are agreed upon, we again commit to a fixed
price.
